Last checked Oct. 9, 2026. Every fact on this page comes from the Broward County Supervisor of Elections and the City of Pembroke Pines’ elections page and City Commission records. This guide is strictly factual; we do not endorse candidates or ballot questions.

The next election is the general election on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026. There are no City Commission races on it, but Pembroke Pines voters will see one city ballot question, a charter amendment on when city elections are held, along with federal, state, county and school district contests. Elections in Broward County are run by the Supervisor of Elections, not by the city. On Election Day you vote at your assigned polling place.

The city question

The Supervisor of Elections’ list of candidates and questions (PDF) includes one “Pembroke Pines, Question.” On Aug. 5, 2026, the City Commission adopted Ordinance 2026-02, which sends charter amendments to the November 2026 ballot. According to the ordinance’s title, the amendments would:

  • Move the city’s general election from March to November of even-numbered years.
  • Extend the current terms of the mayor and the District 2 and 3 commissioners to the November 2028 election, and of the District 1 and 4 commissioners to the November 2030 election.
  • Have the commission choose the vice mayor each year at its first meeting in December.

Two other proposals for this ballot did not go forward on Aug. 5: an $80 million general obligation bond question for a police and fire public safety complex failed for lack of a second, and a charter change on the vote needed to hire or fire the city manager was withdrawn. Read the exact ballot wording on your sample ballot.

Under the current charter, the city’s elections page lists the next municipal election, for mayor and District 2, on March 14, 2028.

Countywide, the School Board’s “Next Generation Referendum” is also on the Nov. 3 ballot, according to a presentation scheduled before the City Commission in August.
