The city’s listing says the ceremony honors “our country’s veterans’ past and present.” The city’s Honoring Veterans Portrait Project, a curated exhibition of portraits of local veterans with their own stories of their service, will be on display during the ceremony. Veterans who want to take part in this year’s project can apply on the Veterans Portrait Project page; the city says space is limited.
One correction to the city’s own text: the listing’s description calls Nov. 11 a Tuesday. It is a Wednesday, which is the day the listing’s header and the city calendar show.
Help for veterans this month
The city lists free veterans assistance at the Carl Shechter Southwest Focal Point Community Center, 301 NW 103rd Ave., from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays, Nov. 6 and Nov. 20, according to the city calendar.
Miramar’s ceremony
Miramar, about three miles south, holds its own ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park, 6405 Arbor Drive. In 2025 it began at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11, according to the city’s event page. Miramar had not posted its 2026 time when we checked on Oct. 14; we will add it when the city does.
What is open and closed
- Public schools: closed. Broward County Public Schools lists Nov. 11 with schools and administrative offices closed. See our schools guide.
- Libraries: closed. Broward County Library lists all libraries closed on Nov. 11 except the NSU Alvin Sherman Library, which stays open.
