How admission works

The district’s zone map for the school (PDF) says sixth to eighth grade students living in its boundary “automatically attend this school.” Any student enrolling in grades 9 to 12 “needs to meet the requirements set in the Dual Enrollment Articulation Agreement” between the School Board and Broward College; the map cites a 3.0 cumulative unweighted high school grade point average and minimum college placement scores. The school’s Cambridge program page describes its Cambridge courses.

Comparing the district’s boundaries, the Pines Collegiate middle school zone takes in the Pines Lakes, Pembroke Pines and part of the Pasadena Lakes elementary zones, part of the Boulevard Heights zone and the former Palm Cove Elementary zone, which the School Board split between Lakeside and Pines Lakes for 2026-27. Almost all of it is inside Pembroke Pines.

For high school, about two-thirds of the zone is in the Charles W. Flanagan High zone and one-third in the McArthur High zone. Broward County’s boundary map data predates the 2026-27 changes; the district’s Find My School tool is the authority for any address.

What is proposed next. The district’s Oct. 6 workshop presentation (PDF) lists one option for Walter C. Young Middle that would move its students into Pines Collegiate and Silver Trail Middle; the other would move them to the Flanagan campus.
