Pembroke Pines’ public schools are run by Broward County Public Schools, the countywide district, not by the city. Attendance zones do not follow city limits: homes in Pembroke Pines are zoned for high schools in Hollywood and Miramar as well as the city’s own, and some Pembroke Pines schools draw students from Southwest Ranches, Davie and Miramar. The city also runs its own public charter school system, and Somerset Academy, Franklin Academy and Renaissance run charter schools here too.

What changed for 2026-27
On Jan. 21, 2026, the School Board approved changes that took effect this school year, according to the district’s May 12 Redefining Our Schools update (PDF) and its 2026-27 zone maps:
- Palm Cove Elementary closed, its zone split between Lakeside and Pines Lakes. The district lists the building for use as a branch campus of Sheridan Technical College.
- Panther Run Elementary closed, its zone split between Chapel Trail and Silver Palms. The district lists the building as a relocation site for district staff.
- West of Interstate 75, the Walter C. Young Middle zone moved to Silver Trail Middle and the Charles W. Flanagan High zone to West Broward High. High school students already at Flanagan in 2025-26 were not reassigned.
The district’s Oct. 6 workshop presentation (PDF) now lists options that would close Walter C. Young Middle, moving its students to Pines Collegiate Academy and Silver Trail or onto the Flanagan campus. Final recommendations are due in November and School Board decisions in December 2026. The district’s 2026-27 data report (PDF) says Pembroke Pines lost more students who live in the city than any other Broward municipality, 1,515, between 2023-24 and 2025-26.

Atlantic Montessori Charter School, which the federal directory listed at 9893 Pines Blvd. in 2023-24, is at 2550 S. Flamingo Road in Davie in the district’s current charter directory.
